The Urban Farming course is a 16-hour hands-on program designed for individuals interested in cultivating their own mini edible garden in urban environments. Whether you’re looking to grow your own herbs, vegetables, or other edible plants in small spaces, this course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to build, manage, and maintain an urban garden. From soil preparation to plant care, this course will guide you through the process of sustainable and practical farming in an urban setting.
This module is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to ensure plants are planted according to established horticulture practices and standards.
After attending the course, learners will be able to:
- Identify various plant species and prepare planting layout plans based on the plant species
- Formulate the soil, substrate and compost mix for various plant species and the equipment and tools required to plant the various plant species
- Plant and provide care for plants in a safe manner
- Supervise the planting of the plants
- Provide nourishment to promote growth and healthy plants
- Determine the ideal irrigation requirements for various plant types
Provide post-planting care for the plant
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Primary school education and above or be able to speak, listen and read English (WPLN Level 3)
- Able to lift and hold farming tools such as a spade.
